Castiel had vast amounts of family for eons. And, now the family he cares about can be counted on one of his hands. Two, if there is an extension to Jodie, Donna, and the girls. And for Dean, he'd make that exception.

No. But I don't look at my sister that way.

Your sister is family.

( In every sense of the word, by definition. Sam and Dean, they're family. For Castiel, Sam is also family, but not in the same way that Dean is. Dean is something indefinite. He is profound.

He is family.

But, not like Waverly is Wynonna's family. He suspects. Maybe, that is what Wynonna picks up on, how he puts things. )

(she does, because she's done it herself. with doc and with others. family is easier to reckon with than other things. but she's not going to keep picking at it, at least for now)

He's one of my best friends here, I'm glad he has some of his people here now. That he's not alone.

( He says it without emotion, but with a familiar pang of regret. It was not his finest moment. He has had billions of violent moments. He was a warrior. Violence came easy. But, he let those souls go to his head. )

But you don't now?

(she doesn't know if shooting holt was the right thing to do or not, but sometimes right is irrelevent. it still feels like the only choice she ever would have made in that moment.)

( Never like that. He defers to Dean, now. He doesn't hide things from him, not after he hid his deal with the Empty. They're on even ground. )

What do you do now?

(wynonna doesn't have anyone to defer to, hasn't since dolls died, and maybe that's been part of the problem. she doesn't know how to lead or be an example, she's always just been trying to make sure her family survives.)

Whatever needs to be done. But, not on a mass scale. Not without finding the best solution beforehand. We were fighting God.

( Which is a fun story! But most stories Cas tells don't really sound fun. )

Fighting God? I can't imagine that was going well.
