( Maybe he should've started with the second thing.

Castiel had vast amounts of family for eons. And, now the family he cares about can be counted on one of his hands. Two, if there is an extension to Jodie, Donna, and the girls. And for Dean, he'd make that exception.

(look how many times as wynonna pawned people off as family because defining it further feels too complicated? a lot of things can be true at once.)

No. But I don't look at my sister that way.

Your sister is family.

( In every sense of the word, by definition. Sam and Dean, they're family. For Castiel, Sam is also family, but not in the same way that Dean is. Dean is something indefinite. He is profound.

He is family.

But, not like Waverly is Wynonna's family. He suspects. Maybe, that is what Wynonna picks up on, how he puts things. )

(she does, because she's done it herself. with doc and with others. family is easier to reckon with than other things. but she's not going to keep picking at it, at least for now)

He's one of my best friends here, I'm glad he has some of his people here now. That he's not alone.

His brother Sam was here, too, but Lucifer sent. him home. Maybe, he didn't sin enough.

Waverly is the best person I know, I'm not saying she's never made mistakes but she doesn't belong here.

( He says it without emotion, but with a familiar pang of regret. It was not his finest moment. He has had billions of violent moments. He was a warrior. Violence came easy. But, he let those souls go to his head. )
